I consider myself one of the biggest cynics on the prospects/quality of Indian cinema (which I admit has a long long way to go). I am myself a voracious viewer of several Hollywood blockbusters, noir dramas, classics and other world cinema (my favourite being "The Shawshank Redemption", "The Godfather" and "The Matrix" among others). I do agree that Indian movies are not as sophisticated and subtle as their western counterparts, but to imply that we should not value the opinions of Indian reviewers is I think being a little too high-handed. Firstly, I am an Indian living in Mumbai and I would have to say that you sound a little pompous and self-aggrandizing.
